Abstract

This study aims to clarify the relationship between the digital economy and economic growth in Iraq. Two variables were relied upon, namely Internet subscribers and mobile phone subscribers. And the statement of their impact on economic growth. The study used the inductive  approach to know the most important foundations and indicators of the digital economy and study Iraq's position on the digital economy by developing the variables of the study and applying them to one of the standard models to find out the impact of the number of Internet subscribers and the number of mobile phone subscribers on economic growth in Iraq. The study found that both the number of Internet subscribers and the number of mobile phone subscribers, who represent the most important mechanisms of the digital economy, have a direct impact on the gross domestic product of econometric choices in Iraq, which means that the digital economy has a direct impact on economic growth in Iraq. The study recommended the importance of strengthening the mechanisms of applying the digital economy in Iraq by expanding the scope of the Internet in Iraq, improving its quality, facilitating individuals' subscription to the Internet and reducing the value of the subscription in order to facilitate individuals' access to multiple services such as distance education services, e-marketing for various products and services and banking, in order to increase GDP growth and achieve the desired economic growth.
